Elementborn Cultures

Elementborn culture is wholly focused on creation and self-expression and encompasses the elementborn themselves, the forge-wizards who create them, and the society they have built together. Elementborn cities contain vibrant communities of arcane research specializing in memory tracing and elaborate facilities dedicated to the creation of new elementborn, however they are also home to vast resources for many academic and creative pursuits designed to be accessible to newly formed elementborn. Additionally, most elementborn who do not remain within their city of origin will return with new knowledge and skills, thus expanding the community's informational troves. Due to this fundamental design, these cities are attractive destinations and homes to a wide array of individuals from different cultures and backgrounds.

Forgeheart City

Life within an elementborn city, even for inhabitants that aren’t elementborn, is centered around personal discovery and growth. Home to a bustling economy that sponsors vast public libraries and elaborate teaching programs for even the most obscure interests, nothing seems out of reach. This leads elementborn and many citizens of their cities to pursue lofty goals and produce incredible feats. The cities are often most known for art– physical, written, and performed– and the specialized crafts that allow for the creation of elementborn (such as woodcarving and porcelain manufacturing), but many an academic has also found their start through a Forgeheart City’s vast resources.

Forge-Wizard Conclave

Memory tracing is a complex arcane magic essential to the creation of elementborn, and central to the function of an elementborn city. As the founding discipline to such a vibrant and successful society, memory tracing is held in the highest regard and unlike all other forms of knowledge in the city, it is highly restricted– not only due to its immense value, but due to the danger it poses when performed incorrectly. The masters of the craft, forge-wizards, are honored as progenitors or even parents to elementborn, and the discipline is most commonly passed down through families or to wizards chosen by elementborn. The near-fanatic dedication these mages have to their craft has created a subculture within elementborn cities. Members of this community, even children, are less focused on self-discovery and are almost single mindedly dedicated to the protection of the intricate art of memory tracing and the preservation of the elementborn species– and therefore their way of life.

Adventureborn

Adventureborn are elementborn or other members of the city who have chosen to venture into the world to seek new knowledge and skills with the goal of returning home with it. They frequently travel in roving caravans and are sometimes gone for years at a time– long enough for children to be raised on the road in a subculture of their city of origin. Adventureborn may also choose to split off from their group to better discover both themself and the world. Elementborn who choose this route may also seek promising mages to introduce to their forge-wizards, and children raised by forge-wizards may seek this route as an escape from the sometimes oppressive conclave. Regardless, any Adventureborn who returns to their city with new knowledge, artifacts, or talents is considered a valued resource for and crafter of the city’s future.
