Godtouched Cultures
As godtouched are creatures gifted sentience from the gods, their culture stems from their divine and natural origins. This can manifest as total acceptance of their animalistic instincts, or elaborate worship of their god. How their culture is structured is influenced by their animal and god of origin, as well as their lineage and history or lack thereof. Godtouched society can be separated into three classes based on the extent of their godtouched lineage: Wildborn, Familial, or Dynastic.
Wildborn
Wildborn godtouched are the first godtouched beings in their lineage. These godtouched are animals that suddenly receive higher-order thinking from a divine presence. All wildborn have a pre-godtouched and post-godtouched life where they remember first being a wild or domesticated animal before the divine intervention that made them a cognizant, sentient creature. Some wildborn may remember their animal lives as members of a wolf pack or a loyal companion of an ascending god, but regardless of their backstory they lack background understanding of abstract social and political concepts, and fitting into a new society is challenging for them.
Familial
Familial godtouched are godtouched– or individuals raised by a godtouched family– who were not themselves touched by a god. Instead, their parent, grandparent, or similar, was the original godtouched ancestor of their lineage who established a lifestyle centered around their heritage. Depending on their relationship to the god who touched them, the animal they originated from, and their personal goals, the family they built will be different. However, regardless of the details, anyone from a godtouched family will be raised on stories of their heritage and may have both divine and wild traditions. Frequently familial godtouched will worship their originating god or foster fundamental skills or instincts from their ancestral animal.
Dynastic
Dynastic godtouched are members of long and often prominent lineages of godtouched– or individuals raised by families within a godtouched dynasty. These lineages often span centuries and even originate from now dead gods. Due to their long histories, it is nearly impossible for a Dynastic godtouched to know everyone in their extended family. In order to keep the memories and values of their origins alive, godtouched dynasties are often centered around elaborate ceremonies, social hierarchies, and longstanding traditions. It is also common for dynasties to focus on a key goal or specialty, such as a certain occupation or keeping the memory of their god alive.
